Commemorative Series, 330-354. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.71 g, 5 h), Rome, 330. VRBS ROMA Helmeted and mantled bust of Roma to left. Rev. She-wolf standing left, suckling Romulus and Remus; above, two eight-pointed stars; in exergue, RFQ. RIC 331. A spectacular, beautiful and sharply struck example. Good extremely fine.

The richness of detail in this piece is astonishing and is evident not only in the playful drapery of Roma but especially in the magnificent depiction of the Lupa Romana, which undoubtedly ranks among the most beautiful in this otherwise very common series.
